There has been speculated that some dartboards are constructed using pig bristles, camel hair or even horsehair however this have been deemed untrue. In the commercially produced dartboards anyhow.

The best dartboards have the thinnest wire, so that the darts have less chance of hitting a wire and bouncing out.
The numbers around the board indicate the different scoring sections of the dartboard and are normally made of wire which is used to divide the segments.
